Beware the Goonch!
According to a story in The Sun ( a U.K. News Publication) by TV Features Editor, Emma Cox, people who enter the Great Kali River along the India-Nepal border are in danger of being snatched and eaten by a giant species of catfish called a goonch.
Rumored by locals for years, the mysterious river monster appears to have progressed from scavenging on the charred remains of bodies burned on funeral pyres and dumped into the river to actively hunting humans for fresh meat.
The story will be featured in an episode of Britain’s BBC Five’s Nature Shock series called Flesh Eating River Monster on October 21 (today).
Perhaps we will get a look at this program state-side in the near future!
