Six pints of bitter … And quickly, please, the world’s about to end. (DON’T PANIC)
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is something that can bring a smile to my face in pretty much ANY situation. If you’ve read it (seeing the film DOES NOT count) then you probably know exactly what I mean.
So in these bitter times, where the economy is hurling itself at Hell in a hand-basket, coming across the 20th Anniversary Edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Adventure Game is a treat resulting in a great big grin!
For those who were around in the OLD days of gaming, Infocom games should spark some fond memories. These text-only adventure games on computers held our attention and provided hours of fun. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Adventure Game was one of the originals.
In case you didn’t know it, the BBC has, since the beginning, been a big backer of the HGG and has continued to support the cult – those hoopy froods really know where their towels are!
Hop on over to the BBC for a hearty helping of HGG goodness and play the The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Adventure Game 20th Anniversary Edition online for FREE(!) – it’s nicely updated graphically and provides the original gameplay. • CLICK HERE •

This article addresses an updated version of the classic Infocom HGG game. The updated version provides basic graphical enhancements to help the player better visualize the game environment and scenarios.
Game play is conducted through textual commands and feedback from the game. The player determines actions to be taken in the environment in which he is playing by asking questions and/or issuing commands. These questions and actions determine the course of the players progression in the game.
If appropriate actions are not taken within a required number of turns or the player chooses incorrect options then negative events, including death, are realized in the course of play.
Note: the correct progression through the game is directly related to the course of the story, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Therefor, it is most advantageous to be be familiar with it.
