Glacier Bay Faucet Parts – Update

Dolphin Plumbing Supply

Dolphin Plumbing Supply

Support at Globe Union was unable to help with the model of tub faucet that Melissa has. And the telephone number they provided for Home Depot support was completely wrong — the number was for a Canadian telephone company!

A Flickr-friend recommended DoPlumb.com/Dolphin Plumbing Supply for the parts. This is, without doubt, the best resource for Glacier Bay parts I’ve seen yet. They stock parts for pretty much all makes and models of plumbing hardware by the looks of it.

I’ve ordered Glacier Bay cartridge – part number 489408 – for just under $11. It looks like the right part. Hopefully it will work!

DoPlumb can be contacted with the following info in addition to the website:

Faucet Parts
1109 Fresno
San Antonio, TX 78201
Phone (210) 733-3583
Toll Free (866) 412-9599
Fax (210) 733-8468

Note: The secure certificate for the website is currently expired, so the site does not load properly in Firefox 3. Hopefully, they’ll fix that soon. In the meantime, try Safari or IE.

This experience trying to find Glacier Bay parts has been a hassle so far. I won’t ever recommend buying a Glacier Bay product. It’s probably best to stick to brands like Delta, American Standard, Kohler, etc. where parts are easier to find.

Here’s an interesting update to this post…

Last night I stopped into the Home Depot in Southlake, TX and found that this store actually stocks the exact replacement part that I ordered online (part number 489408)! You have to buy the springs and washers separately at the store though … they were included in the part I ordered from DoPlumb.com.

Also notable – neither source provides the screw that holds the thing together! The Home Depot guy told me that it isn’t sold with the kit or separately in the plumbing area.

Yeah – I still haven’t completed this project. The retaining screw in the faucet is stripped out from the previous owner, so I stopped by Home Depot to pick up a drill bit to back the screw out with.

Fortunately, I found brass #10-24 machine screws that fit in the fasteners isle. Unfortunately, I’m not sure which length of screw is right yet. So i bought 3 lengths that look like they could be it. At $.98 per pack, that’s no problem.

Ok…I just bought and had installed a Glacier Bay Kitchen Faucet…the one with the sprayer right on the part the water comes out of the faucet. The weight you put underneath the sink to hold that sprayer up is not strong (or should I say heavy) enough. I have been trying to order on on line and am not having any luck.
Does anyone know where or how I can get this part?
    Thanks
    Dru

Anyway, thanks for getting this info out there and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates you taking the time to post this for the masses.
