Melissa and I are now married!
Last Monday, June 8, Melissa and I got married! It was a small, private ceremony at the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, NM. Only Melissa, Taylor (my 9-year-old step-son) and I were there.
Father Richard Gundry performed the ceremony and it was quirky and perfect.
Following the wedding, the three of us had a wonderful dinner at the Luminaria restaurant at the Inn and Spa at Loretto. The staff was incredibly hospitable, surprising us with rose petals and a congratulatory card on the dining table and providing us with complimentary appetizers and chocolate truffles for dessert. The waitstaff and the manager were incredible … charming and attentative. They really made the three of us feel very special and welcome at the restaurant.
We spent the week in Santa Fe and explored both the city and the surrounding areas.
Among the highlights were hiking the Santa Fe Ski Basin, hiking around Ojo Caliente and hiking Bandelier National Monument. We also had a great time exploring Santa Fe and visiting the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum.
We rented a condo for the week at the Fort Marcy Hotel Suites on Kearney St. It was nice and nicely priced. I got a great rate through Orbitz.
The Fort Marcy Suites has a swimming pool and hot tub – which we took advantage of nearly every evening. That made Taylor very happy!
It’s been a really great week and it’s more wonderful than words can express to be joined with my new family! We are very happy to be together and to have the wedding as a warm, happy memory.
So, as Sunday night draws our first week as a family to a close and we prepare to return to the routine of regular life, we all feel very content and relaxed together. It’s a good feeling being together in the same home and no longer going our separate ways each Sunday evening.
The future is bright.
