Capt. Charles Moore On The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

We live in a disposable society that was created along with the invention of plastics following World War II. Convenient, disposable products were created to “free the common housewife” from the drudgery of cleaning and reusing household goods. Unfortunately, there was little thought or concern given to the long-term existence of the refuse or how to deal with it.

In this talk from TED.org, Captain Charles Moore, the discoverer of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, talks about his findings and our future with non-biodegradable trash in the world’s oceans.
