My Latest Project and Today’s Transport

My brother-in-law, J, gave me this Yokota Enterprise road bike from 80s or 90s … he was going throw it out. I stripped it down, de-badged it, de-greased it, replaced tubes, tires, brake cables & pads, handle-bar tape, seat and so on … pretty much rebuilt the bike. It’s awesome and rides like a dream!

It’s about 100-degrees here in DFW today and that’s okay … right now I’ve biked about 1/2 across Grapevine running errands on the bicycle and am having an iced-coffee and checking in on work via Starbuck’s free wi-fi. I wish I could work like this every day!

The “Great Snow” of 2010 in Grapevine, TX

I totally forgot to add this video to my blog here!

North Texas got 12 inches of snow Feb 11, 2010. The news said this is a new record – the most snow recorded in this area since 1964! Here’s how it looked around my neighborhood.

Being interviewed for the nightly news

A group of us from JWT were out to lunch at Champps today and FOX News interviewed a few of us about the current hullabaloo regarding Fantasy Football.

Apparently, four guys got fired from their job for participating in Fantasy Football at work. Their company has a strict policy against gambling (obviously NOT an advertising/marketing firm!) and these guys got terminated due to it. SUCKS to be them.

Anyway, I don’t play but certainly don’t see any harm in it as long as it doesn’t interfere with people getting their jobs done. So that’s what I told the news.

Will I get 15 seconds of fame (or even 5 seconds)? I don’t know – it was footage for the 4 o’clock news and I’ll be working — not watching tv!

There Is No Self Apart From The Whole

A myriad bubbles were floating on the surface of a stream. ‘What are you?’ I cried to them as they drifted by. ‘I am a bubble, of course’ nearly a myriad bubbles answered, and there was surprise and indignation in their voices as they passed. But, here and there, a lonely bubble answered, ‘We are this stream’, and there was neither surprise nor indignation in their voices, but just a quiet certitude.
